¡HAVANA!

In the spring of 2018, Norwegian Cruise Line debuted ¡HAVANA!, a mesmerizing new show produced for the inaugural voyage of the Norwegian Bliss. Conceived, directed and choreographed by Tony Award® winning Broadway veteran Warren Carlyle, ¡HAVANA! propels its audience into a fantastic reimagining of 1950s Cuba.

Partnering together as the scenic and costume designer for the production, artist Ruben Toledo and fashion designer Isabel Toledo construct a vivid dreamscape that celebrates and pays homage to a Havana of a different era. batwin + robin worked closely with the team to bring Ruben’s iconic artwork to life across three LED video surfaces. Our work spanned a 38 x 16 foot video wall, an LED proscenium arch, and two 7.5 x 16 foot moveable LED panels. The video content provides scenic backdrops for each scene, while also acting as animated accompaniment to the show’s musical numbers.

This collaborative effort resulted in a colorful, immersive theatrical experience.
