Lucky Guy on Broadway

Batwin + Robin’s work on the new Broadway production, Lucky Guy, is the subject of a recent article on Live Design. The play, written by Nora Ephron, starring Tom Hanks, directed by George C. Wolfe, and with scenic design by David Rockwell, opened April 1 for a limited engagement at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Nature Research Center Wins Event Design Silver Award

The Nature Research Center at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences has been chosen as Silver Winner of the 2012 Event Design Award for Best Museum Environment. Andrew Merriell & Associates, along with Batwin + Robin, Maltbie, Electrosonic, Sosolimited, Hypersonic, David Weiner and Small Design were recognized for their work on the project. The 2012 Event Design Awards recognize the best of the best among the industry’s change agents, and the award-winning projects reflect how the world’s best creative studios are reinventing experience design across all categories.

Recent Opening
The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY

The historic Capitol Theatre recently re-opened and Batwin + Robin Productions is proud to be an integral part of the unveiling of this newly renovated live music spot. Using 10 high-definition projectors, B+R designed and produced compelling 3D video projected onto the theater's walls, organ wells, and dome. The Cap also features an arena-sized lighting system and an advanced sound system. The opening line-up includes top acts such as Bob Dylan, The Roots, Regina Spektor and Blues Traveler.

Daily Planet is a Finalist for the Jackson Hole Science Media Awards

The newly-opened Daily Planet installation in the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences was recently nominated as “Best Institutional Media Installation” for the Jackson Hole Science Media Awards.  The Awards aim to recognize outstanding media that illustrates the wonders of science to a broad audience. The Daily Planet - an immersive 3-story tall spherical theater - for which Batwin + Robin created 50 ambient video stories, uses a custom-engineered AV system consisting of 6 edge-blended projectors using uncompressed 2K imagery, 4 moving DL3 projectors, as well as theatrical lighting and a multi-channel sound system. The award winner will be selected by a panel of judges at the Jackson Hole Symposium in Denver, Colorado on September 5-7th 2012.
